And the money will go into the pool. Not sure how that's going to work and what the stake restrictions will be.

good innovation, will obviously have limits and in small pools will cause price collapses. Has this already started?

No, not yet. They're putting the feelers out.

Bin bagged, are you sure the money is going into the pool?
From that screenshot, it looks like the T0te are just giving you the option to take a fixed (lower) price

We’ve got a horse trading at 4/1. Would you like to take 5/2! I’m guessing that’s just an example but it doesn’t look very tempting.

s.kenbo, the question is will the 'lock in' price ever be higher than the current bookie price or exchange price? I think we know the answer.

No. You may beat SP every once in a while if any horse is punted and you’ve locked in early. You’d probably still have beat that price with any books at the time though.

Should have added earlier... That looks like they are offering you a price that they will stand themselves... Not bad for them, as it looks like they're offering way under what is available elsewhere. May attract some on course casual punters.

Otherwise, if it's going into the pool somehow, it smacks of more of their "secret" seeding shenanigans. Can't they just carry on making enough already?

Reg 100% they clarified the money will go in the pool and they are not becoming a bookmaker. (even though they have a sportsbook albeit with no racing offering)

OK, cheers bin bagged

I will be interested in the logistics of how that works in practice, not that the T0te are likely to say... And also what sort of dividends are returned? And will they continue to guarantee matching or bettering SP?

Where's Westberks when you need him?

My guess is tote add it to the pool like a normal bet, but they are standing the difference between the final pool price and the fixed price available. As long as on average they beat the final pool price then that is profit for them.

Jamee, that sounds about right

Anyone old enough to remember the horse called Big Finish trained by Brooke Sanders (Double Dutch fame). Back in 1990 Horse was 1/10 fav at Lingfield jumps and won 30 lengths. Because it very weak market “someone” put large bets on other 4 horses which led tote win on horse to be 4/1 against.
Bookies refused to pay out for weeks but in the end were told they had to.

Just wondering if you can manipulate tote price for this ?
