Great memories. If only we had known just how good Gaye Brief was before the race! Anyone notice the obvious major change to Cheltenham since 1983?

I do remember and it is now used as the 2.5 mile start which was also missing in 1983 I think.

Much earlier when I first went to Cheltenham, the Gold Cup start was near the Evesham Road and they jumped 2 fences in the area which is now the tented village before jumping the one going away from the stands. The course also looped round behind where the stands are and joined back up where the 3 mile hurdle start is now. There was a narrow alleyway between the 2 parts of the old stands through which the horses went to and from the paddock/unsaddling area. The present paddock is the third I have seen at Cheltenham.
