Hope so Reg but it could be a frost again. I can't see any other turf racing before Saturday and even that is in doubt. Global warming innit.

Nope. I am not that sharp!

Taunton on at the moment so a little good news. Will the Hobbs/White team continue in their good recent form? Three good chances but the first at odds on is too short for me.
My roots were originally in ptp and Hunter Chasing but that was a very long time ago so the first Hunter Chase of the year is full of names that I do not recognise apart from David Maxwell. With Derham back to form, a 6yo who can jump should prove better than a group of veterans. But it is a chasing debut so will it jump? Anthony Honeyball is a local trainer so Getmetothemoon with a 10lb claim looks interesting in the 3.15 mares handicap against two 4yos. Hope they all turn up and we have some action today. |

I started reading the thread thinking you were IN Lanzarote Celtic. That would be the cool way to deal with the first half of January.

Sage. Wish i was. Its freezing here in ascot.
Was derhams yard flooded out a few weeks back. He has defo hit form over new year |

Harry Derham's gallops were washed away so he was unable to work horses until it was relaid. Hence hardly any runners until very recently but the ones now running are doing well. Joker de Mai is no good thing as a couple of the Hunter Chasers have decent ratings and their jockeys might be better than David Maxwell.

In fairness to David Maxwell, if he wants to waste his millions, garnered from a successful city career that's entirely up to him. But I think he is a rubbish rider, who rides with long stirrups like some overweight publican at a boxing day hunt.
He is great for the punter, as when you see those red and black silks you know a chunk of odds has been taken out of the market. BTW, Is Koo Keeper still around. He is the best Hunter Chase sage ever on here. |

I think you must mean Kohaku who was an expert judge of Hunter Chasers on here at least around 15 years ago. |

I like David Maxwell, he doesn't take himself to seriously as a rider, the old corinthian spirit, what's not to like,he enjoys his hobby.
He is a very successful business man. |

I am not critical of what David Maxwell does at all. Just weighing up the pros and cons of backing him which I have done as it happens.

Hobbs yard getting back to their good old days although Lowry's Bar is their only really classy horse so far. I used to follow them blind back in the 1990s when they tended to get their string ready a few weeks ahead of the others but the last 5 years have been a continual decline.

I have no problem with maxwell either. Hes in there 100% to win every race and i guess his backers get bigger prices. Good luck to him

But the horse looks pretty useless on that evidence.
