yeah reg same her in bermondsey   as a nipper a sweet shop near rotherhithe station old style ,the counter was quite long and to us nippers it resembled a bar and  we sat on upturned wooden lemonade crates you could buy 1 -2 or 3 penny drinks of whatever you wanted limeade cherryade tizer etc the shopkeeper would pour drinks from the bottles into different sized glasses according to how much you paid ,to us kids it was like being in a pub but without the alchohol.

Whisky Mac. While still under drinking age me and my mates would pretend to be older by wearing

suit and tie and not drinking pints of Watneys Brown Ale. I'm sure the Landlords weren't fooled for

a moment but they knew we would behave ourselves.

Grolsch was popular in the day and bottles of Holsten Pils with the foil on the top of the bottle. Also Elephant lager, brewed by Carlsberg.

I vaguely recall asking some Doris, circa 1985,  what she wanted to drink and she said a large brandy & Babycham. She didn't last very long.

my workmate said in 70,s they used to buy the ladies cherry B and Pernod and it was known as KNICKERDROPPER and some of the older women behind the bar used to call you a DIRTY BARSTEWARD for ordering the ladies one LaughLaugh

Stat- it was Elvis Costello's dad, Ross,  who sang the song. Elvis did backing vocals. I also remember putting Five Boys in my mouth! No- never was a member of the pink brigade, it was a chocolate bar!

Mid to late 80s,a local pub was doing Long Life on draught
Was always sold in cans but rarely on draught
Was a great pint, a cross between a lager and bitter in taste
