I think that was a rushed finish, and unnecessary. He was so far clear, over the last and he'd be home and hosed. Instead, a slight mistake by the horse and the jockey was unbalanced, and unseated (weakly).

Very poor moment for the lad.  Why he took a hand off the reins at that point is a puzzle.  Trainer’s response will be interesting.

I would imagine loyal fakenham would be a tricky track to ride still not very good but a possible reason.

I don't know his riding too well, but seemed to me he was doing way too much like massively panicking/nervous when he had the race won. Rabbit caught in the headlights, but it's not his first tango. Very tough to get over, I assume.
