Just watched a Hannon 2/1 fav trail in last of 12 over 1m with never even a thought about a shove in the race. [Antelope 17.00 Wolves]

1.01 the inevitable Stewards is met with 'the trainer's representative could offer no explanation'

This is the equivalent of a no comment' interview from some glaringly guilty criminal who has been arrested bang to rights. But the racing fraternity seem to put up with it. Time there were some consequences even if it was e.g. trainer must report within 3 days a further explanation to be published.

Do you seriously think Hannon will be reporting back to the owner that he has no idea wtf happened? Always assuming connections have not filled their bags with a tasty lay.

Have a meander through the Stewards reports and see just how many brazen 'no fecking idea' explanations are accepted by the Stewards without consequences. It would be interesting to tally them up for the year and try to name and shame the perps.

BTW Permission was given for both STUDIOUS (IRE) and EVA'S EYES to wear a red hood to post so the Stewards were always getting their complimentary sherry even if they didn't ask any questions.

ps not pocket talking as this was leg 2 of a £2 AvB boredom acca after my placepot went t1ts up with the fav in the opener. At least that was a non trier burst off the front and therefore did not catch the Steward's eye !! Never led before and that sorted any chance of it getting 12f. Laugh

What a shocking fav.

Hammered in every race bar one.2nd lowest top speed.

Only ran on good to firm or standard.

Yet bred by lope de vega, who love soft, heavy.

It probably ran its best, the bookies, odds compilers, fav backers need to go to the stewards room.

The representative of Richard Hannon’s explanation that the gelding was never travelling was noted. The Veterinary Officer examined ANTELOPE during routine testing and had no significant findings.

Wonder what happens to the notes? 'Never travelling' is a load of p1sh and just a shade better than Genial Jim Goldie's "my horse sulked in the back straight"

It’s very well bred,Dubai,sharmadal,in family.

Wrong dist,wrong going.

Who enters these things.

Putting Prescott to shame, must be on a good mark,if every they run it in a race it can win.

Sorry this is a multi facetted con job on punters.

Jockeys are ONLIGED to report at Scales anything which affected their horse's run.
The performance of ANTELOPE which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered. Seems to imply the never travelling excuse was only offered up AFTER the Stewards decided to ask a question. Why no fine for the jockey ?? That might be a good place to start expecially if as likely (absolute certainty) they were riding to instruction.

Surely the price or fact its fav is irrelevant.in a weak betting market,
Why not make the worst horse fav.

Agreed. I rarely back a horse to win except in France (less bent). But try to assess if they will in fact run to their mark, Antelope 3 runs down the swannee to get a mark. RPR 61 on debut guaranteed a mid 60 handicap mark. Backed from 9/1 into 13/2 over CD in October first hcap - then cuffed in possibly a competitive race later that month going off 4/1 fav.

Only offspring of the connections Anna Nerium a Gp3 winning 110 rated mare who was also trained by Hannon and has sadly died. The Late R J McCreery might be spinning in his grave.

The one thing you have not considered is the horse may not be right. They are not robots. No doubt the stewards will be asking for a further report   which no doubt will include veterinary evidence if required. Your argument holds little gravitas as you are not in control of the full facts.

"Never travelling" should only ever apply to the horse not getting on the horse box to go to the racecourse. It's gone on since the year dot & even biblical times where hot favourite Goliath got beaten. This sort of thing will always happen where money is concerned. It always amazes me when anyone is amazed. It's part of the game but that doesn't make it right!
