Yes, although they must have a skeleton staff to get the Boxing Day paper out, even though it was largely written already.

I'm just wondering if Tommo released the news on Christmas Day afternoon deliberately to screw the trade paper. Although an intention to retire in a year or so is not exactly "hold the front page" stuff, it still merits a couple of paragraphs.

One of the very few course commentators to have ridden an official winner.

YES Thommo is in the form book and I believe our King was trailing in behind.  This happened in 1983

Cardinal - It was 1980 at Plumpton.  Thompson won on Classified for Nicky Henderson.  HRH was making his debut and was second on the favourite Long Wharf for Ian Balding carrying the famous Paul Mellon colours. Think the race was called the Madhatters Private Sweepstake and was a flat race.

Bartlett practicing today to replace Tommo as the king of the 'must keep mentioning the 'favourite ' as often as possible' headwrecker.
