...is getting done for money laundering and counter-terrorism financing in Australia. The Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (Austrac) proceedings against Entain allege serious and systemic non-compliance with Australia anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF). It alleges Entain's board and senior management did not have appropriate oversights of its AML/CTF laws.
Austrac also alleges that Entain did not conduct appropriate checks on 17 higher-risk customers and that it deliberately obscured the identity of some high-risk customers through the use of pseudonyms to "protect their privacy".
What a shower the board and senior management of Entain are. Recreational punters with accounts of decades get over-burdened with AC, restrictions and account closures yet the company board and senior management team turned a blind eye to higher-risk customers even protecting their privacy using pseudonyms.
This is clearly money talking. The bookies and their senior management teams are corrupt and can be bought. I hope another colossal fine is imposed, so soon after a £615m fine in 2023 which ousted its CEO.

I think until the board members and senior management team are held responsible and opened to prosecution this "lack" of managerial governance will resume with impunity. A fine is a kudos to bookies; no honour amongst thieves.

Reminds me of the time a guy was in court charged with battering his wife. The court couldnt hide their laughter when his name was called out as "Mr Dunner Goodnproper"
