No salt will definitely be fatal but most normal diets contain enough. This blanket advice is absurd as we are all different. If you do heavy exercise in hot weather, salt is even more critical as a lot is lost in sweat. Many professional sports teams take salt tablets after training. As for porridge, we had some this morning and very warming it was too. If it was down to me I would ban most herbs and spices. They smell horrible and I am allergic to some of them. Good quality plain cooked food for me thanks.

Sugar here.

It is bad for you if it is the instant type pre-loaded with lots of sugar. That's the variety that won't be allowed to be advertised. Fair enough, obesity, diabetes etc is a serious burden on the NHS.

Combining Flahavan's oats with other foods means you can enjoy a wide range of tasty and nutritious recipes throughout the day, for baking, cooking and tasty snacks. Health-wise, it's all good too. Oats are an excellent source of iron, protein, B vitamins, phosphorus, zinc, and other essential vitamins and minerals.

But obesity is caused by how many calories you consume minus the number you use. The source of the calories makes little difference. I was a fairly serious athlete for 20 years and my problem was keeping weight on.

It's not just obesity due to too much calories though it's about gut health and looking after liver, reducing sugar and processed foods is a good thing.
The porridge thing is about the ready made pots with sugar I think but also not all porridge is equal, some suffers from processing including being part cooked and then rolled, changing it. Even seems to be a diff how it's milled, steel cut or rolled. Strangely I am now allergic to it, goes through faster than first night mince, tried just water with it rather than milk but it's a no no, tried organic which is ridic expensive and it's the same so off the menu now, used to like it too. Back in day used to like the readybreak, the glowing parker add lol. Summit you don't see is sugar puffs, used to be popular but just sugar. Not sure about cornflakes either, all very processed, which is bad. |
