lip-smacking bag of wind.
Report sageform December 6, 2024 1:55 PM GMT
I doubt if Exeter would have been on tomorrow as the SW is where the worst wind is forecast. Chepstow could have issues.
Report Regbutler December 6, 2024 2:09 PM GMT
Yes, Chepstow looks more likely to be off looking at the maps
Report swiftynifty December 6, 2024 2:10 PM GMT
all Welsh football has been cancelled for safety reasons, I reckon Chepstow may make the call today.
Report Regbutler December 6, 2024 2:31 PM GMT
Chepstow got precautionary inspection for 0730 tomorrow due to high winds forecast
Report skiptoomaloumacari December 6, 2024 2:32 PM GMT
I'd be more worried about Aintree..
Report ekbalko December 6, 2024 2:32 PM GMT
All inspecting now.
Report Regbutler December 6, 2024 2:34 PM GMT
Would think that the 2 bridges might be closed as well
Long diversion via Gloucester if so
Report 1st time poster December 6, 2024 2:34 PM GMT
how do you inspect for winds at 7 30 for 1.00 race times ?
Report barstool December 6, 2024 2:45 PM GMT
Give a storm a name and the bloody country stops.
Report sageform December 6, 2024 2:47 PM GMT
You listen to the forecast and when there is a red warning of danger to life, you take notice. It may not be that bad inland or farther east so Sandown may get away with it.
Report Fashion Fever December 6, 2024 3:05 PM GMT
saying they can race in 50mph, 60 mph forecast
Report N-east Correspondent December 6, 2024 3:06 PM GMT
Aintree 65mph winds most of tomorrow cant see that surviving, Chepstow 50-55mph all day but its not just the horse and jockeys to take into account though they are clearly the priority, structures and whether safe to travel to courses all have to be taken into account, Sandown might be ok as mentioned
Report barstool December 6, 2024 3:06 PM GMT
It's a nanny state.

If you took notice of everything they dish out you would never get out of bed in a morning.
Report cobs101 December 6, 2024 3:35 PM GMT
All Welsh football cancelled for tomoz already, Chepstow got no chance..
Report isleham December 6, 2024 3:39 PM GMT
give the storm a name and frighten the masses to death...another controlling mechanism. IT IS WINTER !!!!
Report hulk23 December 6, 2024 3:41 PM GMT
transfer chepstow to perth
Report breadnbutter December 6, 2024 4:01 PM GMT
It's not just the actual racing, horses need to get to and from the course, punters too, horses can be a bit spooky in wind at best of times . Red wind a new one but looks like the potential for structural damage is there and due diligence will prevail, of course you look silly if it's just a bit breezy but forecasting is much better now even if it does take an overly cautious stance at times.

a handful will lose their lives tomorrow as a direct result of it. A fallen tree or a flying roof tile etc.we cant all stay indoors i know. good luck
Report Early Morning Riser December 6, 2024 8:16 PM GMT
I have received an emergency alert on my phone earlier and i thought Putin has let one offLaugh but it was a red "danger to life" weather warning sent by the UK Government, never had one of them before Scared.
Report Regbutler December 6, 2024 8:22 PM GMT
Same here EMR
Had similar messages once or twice before
Phone goes off with a very loud siren noise
Report Regbutler December 6, 2024 8:29 PM GMT
Wetherby... Not worried about winds and saying standing water not on racing line
So, looks promising
Aintree and Sandown both saying roughly the same... That if winds get up to around 50mph  then possibly/probably have to call off because of safety issues
Chepstow... Be surprised if it's on personally but let's hope

Was looking forward to some good racing tomorrow
Right now, I'd take 2 out of 4 being on, but hope I'm completely wrong
