Decline in betting on-line. 25% down over 2 years.
My betting over that period shows more like a 33% decline.
I was caught when they would not release £600 from a winning bet until I provided personnel info which they kept on rejecting.
Took 6 weeks to be able to withdraw.
These stats confirm Im not the only one who bets a lot less now.

Do they actually mean bets with regulated firms when they refer to ‘online’?
Because the spam folder unregulated merchants are still online.

you triggered affordability checks on a winning bet? Confused

The RP reports the decline in betting on racing and also that bookmakers gross margin on racing has held up. This is a statement of fact and although affordability checks will clealy have played a part nowhere in any of the articles published does it mention:

* Account restrictions - These clearly have had an effect on the reduction on betting on racing.
* SP now being set by offcourse bookmakers - This has resulted on a worse SP at the top of the market which in large part is why their gross margin has held up.

The RP is doing its masters bidding by making this all about affordability checks. They are not doing what's best for punters and therefore racing.

Not sure if its an age related thing, the three month break over covid, saturation of racing
or bookmakers mouth pieces on tv. But my betting is only around 25% of what it used to be. After my biggest bet of the year on Forge Valley Lad yesterday Cry. im unsure if i will keep betting on horses. Good luck to you all.

Affordability checks are definitely number 1 issue. But next is restrictions. Then uncompetitive racing and finally lack of vision and change in sports leadership.

u could have 5 or 6 figures in the bank and be a lifetime winner on here but if only income is state pension ( £884 /4 weeks ) it's £100 a month deposit limit.  Go to the races you can have what u like on...if they have any bottle. Crazy

If affordability checks are driving the decline in Racing volume and profit, would we not expect to see a similar decline in (eg) Football and Tennis betting?

Do we have data on that?

football down 7%. are the bookies just chasing an ever-decreasing pool of racing mugs?
