Ive been an active user customer of betfair for 30 years or since it first started to operate with the name betfair (transferred from flutter.com) during this time ive used the exact same bank account to fund and withdraw all monies. The scenario starts three weeks ago i lost my bank card and had to get the bank to issue me a new one so when i got the new one i activate it on betfair and cancelled my old bank card with the bank and betfair and started to use the said new card ,today i went to withdraw and it wouldnt let me withdraw my sum and there afterwards suspended my account to prove who i am, It was a KYC request as i dont have a drivers licence and my passport is out dated , therefore tried to use the live chat with no success, as they needed my documentation to verify who i am, (after 30 plus years), they wouldnt help me as i didnt have the correct documentation therefore i tried to escalate the mater into a complaint so as i could take the matter further low and behold i cant complain as i dont have the passport or drivers licence , how do i escalet this so as someone with a bit of authority can make a decision? is there an email address as i cant find one?
The only one I know is forum@betfair.com Maybe that's a starting point.
I sympathise. This sounds an horrific state of affairs. The problem has arisen because fewer and fewer bookmakers provide a telephone service. They are hiding behing that. Most of the times 'Chat' has proved to be time consuming and useless.
Good luck.

i suspect you are going to have to get a valid passport...Once they request, its evidence or nothing...Hopefully email to CEO does the business...i do know with other companies, red tape disappears and common sense takes over, but with betting under the microscope common sense does seem to go out of the window.
Ive put on my vpn a few times and them forgot it was on, went onto daq twice with the vpn on, and both times my account has been suspended, had to provide passport and energy bill twice to get my account back...oh, and i had to provide a screenshot of my location for wifi.

Aberdonia my passport has expired and there is no way i would let any company hold details of my bank account and passport tht is a receipe for disaster, a family relative who works as a consultant on the cyber security industry for a few major building societies and banlks strongly advised me against giving any of that critical information out due to the amount of dns and cyber attacks on betfair (and all the other companies) its only a matter of time before they hit the jackpot and get everything, if they can hack netflix and microsoft they will hit a second rate company like flutter, Happy ive deposited a couple of times with the new card its not as if its been thousands it was only a couple of hundred pounds as i emptied my account into my old card and reloaded my betting pot when i got my new card , i am in slight profit

You've probably been lucky to avoid KYC till now, I would guess most customers have had to jump through those hoops at some point (or chosen to walk away).

Mountain out of a molehill. Give them the documents they've requested. What makes you so different than any other customer? KYC is a key safeguard to any business regardless of any history.

Royal i dont think you have the jist of the matter or the severity of passing on detailed information to a company that will eventually be hacked, between facial recognition and to divulge P60s, bank statements, utility bills etc the list could go on and on , therefore for any person who has divulged the said information to flutter etc are very very silly people (and time will prove this statement correct), I am no different from any other customer no better or worse as my local poet summed up" a mans a man for awe that" If you genuinely believe its a safeguard ive a totally different opinion as being with the same company for 30 plus years with the same betting pattern and same betting structure i will leave you think of this being a safeguard.

Online gambling firm Betfair admitted today it had not informed its customers that the details of millions of credit cards were stolen in a major cyber-attack 18 months ago.
More than 3.1 million account names with encrypted security questions, 2.9 million usernames, and nearly 90,000 account usernames with bank account details were stolen in an attack in March last year.

Betfair now part of a global empire and up to recently have been relatively independent in terms of setting their policies and standards. That has now all changed due to a desire to introduce group-wide, global controls and regulations and this inevitably causes friction with some older customers. Save yourself from being overwrought and just comply is my advice.

dumpling, it sounds like the 'system' hasn't recognised the new card as being from the same bank account due to the long number changing, it always requires any funds to be returned to the old card first to 'level off' the net deposits/withdrawals to zero.
I'd try this email priority@betfair.com
Good luck getting it sorted.

Got to say, if you are just using a new card on the same bank account, you really should not have been asked for id stuff......Ive updated my card numerous times from misplacing a card, to just updating on expiry date. This seems like a computer generated admin fck up to me.
i still think, now that you have been asked for information, you will have to provide it though....Hopefully not, once you explain to Jackson.

aberdonia, I had to cancel a card due to it being hacked at William Hill, the new card had a new long number and I had the same issues as dumpling when using it on here subsequently.

i know folk who have emailed BT Head honcho, and have had a swift resolution to a fck up...i do however agree with the folk who say "provide what they are asking for" and get on with your life.

I cannot remember the last time i did a cash transaction....All my money is done online, i use my phone to pay for things at shops, i dont even carry cash anymore.
Everytime i do make a transaction, i automatically receive a notification from my bank to confirm the transaction. If i deposit say 100 quid to betfair, i get instant notification from my bank on my phone.
im careful online, use a vpn a lot , its the way of the world im afraid, the world is online, so criminal activity has moved there too.....If you are careful , you are fine, and of course if you are done, the bank will give you , your money back and swiftly....a relative had 20k stolen, was back in her account in a few days.

These threads aren't unique, there have been loads over the last few years, many with a similar experience. I might be wrong but I can't remember one, where the customer didn't provide what they require for KYC and were allowed to continue betting. It's not personal, unfortunately it's where we are now.

You can register a new card with a new betting firm and deposit all you want BUT the minute you try to withdraw money from the new account with the new card they all ask for the said documentation and photo ID in particular. I don`t have a problem with this if they asked before you made an initial deposit for ID but they don`t. And they all do it. It`s wrong.

Very true Dealer, if you don`t comply you can`t bet.
In answer to the original post. You will need to fork out and buy a new passport to get your dough. Sadly, that`s the way it is now.

Very few banks change their long card number for new cards. Betfair don't cope well when this is the case, I think because their systems see it as a different account. My bank is one that changes the long number and it was always a nightmare so I switched to direct bank withdrawals many years ago and had no issues since.

I bank with Barclays and get a new long card number every time they replace it. It's never been an issue above and beyond having to make a deposit before being able to withdraw with it, but then I completed KYC probably 15 or more years ago.

A provisional driving licence would be a lot cheaper as photo ID than a passport if you knew you were never going to need the passport to travel overseas. You need photo ID for all sorts of things these days (even to vote) so it's worth getting regardless. I sold my late mother's house last year and needed to provide exactly the same stuff as completing KYC on here (photo id + proof of address + proof of bank account to be used)

Alright hands up i was wrong with the timing by a few years, im on here a minimum of 23 years as i was one of the few who was automatically transferred from flutter.com when betfair bought them out i was counting my time with flutter to be in the 30 years so all in all it will be nearer 30 than 20, as you can see from my username ect joined 20th november 2001 , a tad pedantic to pick up on such minor issue instead of assisting, Rico i received several private message saying you and/or two/three others would disrupt any logical topic discussion or assistance its good to see you havent let yourself down, its actually pretty accurate the people who sent me the messages had you down to a T, these guys have set you up by messaging me with your predictability of being a narcissist and you dont even know about it, they are one step ahead of you at all times with the accuracy of your replies , i will await for your detailed reply to see if its as accurate as what they predicted so far your one for one a 100% record dont make it 2-2 or 3-3, As what they said is rather sad im of the opinion you need professional help not being bullied intimidated and ridiculed by the users on here.(shame on you guys who messaged me ,I would urge all users formites take it easy on him give him a break you highlight his weakness) .
toprated your better than that please check 23 years on here plus time on flutter. (me bad)
die linke its the exact same account when using the replaced card,
