Beckett 2nd string wins the 1.20 race , as the depth of quality increases the 2nd string strike rate does also.
Maybe it's an indicator as to why it happens with Aidan's stable so frequently , albeit with a lot of catching up to do yet ![]() |

By:
This is not new..Cecil 2nd strings won frequently.

By:
Correct aberdonia but in the modern game punters interpret 2nd strings winning as crooked , but of course that couldn't possibly be the case in the last millennium.

Queen Midas won at Royal Ascot under Willie Ryan....2nd string, from memory 9/1...Was a good memory..
|
|
By:
Cracking memory mate , i'd have no chance remembering without looking it up
![]() Again from memory though seem to recall Cecil's 2nd string winners numerically were more likely to be Yarmouth standard as opposed to good races , stand to be corrected though as it was a hell of a long time ago ![]() |

By:
Yup, Yarmouth was a staple.. Many a good Cecil horse started at Yarmouth...Really good ones made all and won in a hack canter, never mind 2nd strings.

It is not allowed in the forum rules to criticise Cecil, thank you.

Belmez was also the Cecil "2nd string" when he won the 1990 King George.
i dread to think of the stick the great man would be getting for all these 2nd string winners.... ![]() ![]() |

By:
Certainly not, have some respect aberdonia.

Won the 1993 Derby with his 2ND string.
These trainers always relied on the 1 horse. ![]() |

I dont know why I have always thought Belmez was the 3rd string. Did sheik MO own 3 in the race?
|
|
By:
My bad, it was when he won the King George that he was the outsider of the 3 sheikh mo runners.
