With a few honourable exceptions they just seem to want to be seen gyrating in the paddock watching on the big screen.....surely they should purely be concentrating on their own horses.....and you can't do this if your horse isn't in the picture......not a good look if you ask me...

something I have never understood with owners either. You wait a year to see your horse run at a Grade 1 track and then watch the race on the telly. I understand if you are not good on your pins but otherwise I would always watch the race from the stands/lawn. may be different at a course where it takes ages to get back to winners enclosure (if you are lucky)... but still

When you had to go to the course to bet tax free I used to prefer watching on the TV at Goodwood as you could see more, I often used to see John Banks do the same. Goodwood was the only course I used to do that.

A few weeks ago at Sandown, a mate was asked by security what was in the case?
He showed the numpty his bins and was then asked why had he brought them to the track? You gotta laugh I suppose. |

Slippy, is that really true ? Tragic if is.. Not like a few years ago when all the old gatemen would know as much about the horses as you did.
I always remember some at Newbury to be particularly knowledgeable and pleasant they would be on their posts 3 or 4 hours before the course opened up. Probably 70 if they were a day. Now they probably employ school leavers out of London or some illegals off the boat to save money... hence the bins comment . |
