I was reading an article earlier saying the max of e10 and max winnings 3k.
Is this for games / of chance, horse racing , poker ?
Is it all gambling or r just some non sports gambling ?

A new Gambling regulation Bill could be passed limiting max stakes to $10 abd max winnings to $3,000 in certain circumstances.
Bingo and punting in general by the look of things. Superdraw/Fund-raisning lotteries may be exempt if they raise money for good causes. sentences of 5 years nick being touted for breaking the law. |

it's for what has been termed as "relevant games". Bets are defined differently and the exchange is a betting intermediary. Unfortunately the relevant game limits apply to poker, so events like the Irish Poker Open or any other big tournaments will no longer run and online poker will also probably cease as it will be difficult to tailor games specifically for irish players.

The disgrace of these limits is that it appears that someone can play €10 a spin roulette and do their wages in an evening, but they can't play a pkrstrs €20 deepstack tournament with a 300 entries that takes 6 hours.

The article I was reading says it has just been passed as law in ire last week.
Not being Irish I don't know how the law process works over there but the article said it was now waiting for it to be implemented by something in Ireland. If it includes horses then it's got serious issues. No racing on tv, now no betting stake allowed over 10 euros. Frightening . Just have to wait and see if our tree hugging lot follow like lemmings over the cliff. |

The intention is to protect vulnerable gamblers.
The more they encourage to self-exclude, the more they punish firms for not complying, the more it affects betting overall. One big slippery slope |

Bookies know who the problem and vulnerable gamblers are, just like they know who the winning gamblers are.
Difference is, they shut winning gamblers accounts instantly and losing problem addictive gamblers continue to bet. |

Stop wetting yourself over nothing. The law doesn't create limits on betting amounts and doesn't give the power to the regulator to create limits on betting amounts.
And lol at criticising Ireland when we have a regulator that can actually clearly breach our human rights in respect of privacy and freedom to enjoy property without parliament having a say in the matter. |

I believe you are half right, because that exactly is what our government has managed to do by introducing these checks meaning you can't deposit unlimited funds anymore ... they have managed to bring out a betting limit by stealth via the back door. If you can't deposit then your stake has been effectively capped. There appears to be a very strong anti betting wind blowing and it seems to be across all parties, not limited to left or right . |

an interesting thing about promos and the new irish law - it appears that allowable promos must be offered to everyone or no one. Why can't the UKGC do that?
