In the Amateur riders Derby at the Curragh, hasn't ran for 969 days so hardly surprising but what price will this formerly very good horse go off at. Running for Charles Byrnes for first time after such a long absence with a very decent Amateur on top. Was rated a lot higher than these having won the Ebor and the Irish St Leger in 2021 on Good ground. Could be hammered into Fav or drift right out. You could say best form is over further and on better ground so not a given imo even if still at his peak.
The safer option is to back either Chally Chute or Helvic Dream EW as both of these are clear of the rest on ratings. My early preference is for Helvic Dream who runs well on soft/heavy ground and at this time of year. Horse has won a G1 in 2021 beating Broome over 10.5fs here, was also 3rd to Layfeyette in G3 last year, jockey is only 18/19 and although record says 0-4 on flat, he is 1-9 in NHF races, which is really 2-9 but one winner for Meade was disqualified at Punchestown in Feb for waying in 0.3 lbs over, won easily.
Be interesting to watch the market as it develops.

Looks like a technical KO for Sonny, out like the Kontiki, wonder if he'll get off his stool.

Disappointing run from from Helvic Dream as went from cruising to stopping in a couple of strides, just managed to hold on for 3rd i think. Sonny Boy never seemed likely after that huge drift.
