counted 8 whip strikes from just before final furlong to the one after line
didnt exactly give the horse time to respond either - won by 4.5l! |

Hard to be sure but it looked to me like the 'celebratory wave' did make contact

striking the horse in the incorrect place to going over the limit striking the horse without giving him time to respond striking the horse when clearly winning |

I've got the RTV coverage. On the head-on angle, as the camera is to his left, where the whip lands is obscured by his leg.
But after the head-on, they showed a close-up slow-mo of him crossing the line and I'm not convinced that it did land on the horse after watching that again. But whatever, it goes to show how this can be disputed. |

the 1st 6 cracks his arm stops when he connects..passing the line his arm carries on backwards..deffo no connection (imo)
