Missed the 5/2 and the 2/1, but decided to bite the bullet. Not my usual type of bet, but I can see him going off favourite. Far more going for him than the current favourite. The form is better, has impressive course form, and despite a very good change of pace, has form on testing ground. Be surprised if bookmakers do any significant boosting on the day. Also presume Barzalona will ride which shouldn't be a disadvantage.

And to you. Unfortunately, already messed up with two ante-post no shows, so already chasing, which is never good.

Disappointing news. So much in hand the ride made no difference at Royal Ascot, but outridden by Moore at York, and conceded four lengths in the Arc, and ended up only being able to make up three. Hopefully, he doesn't get too cocky on Saturday. Unless you are the only one travelling, hard to pull a lot of ground back on deep ground.

No jock on Calandagan so as yet not confirmed.

Make that three no shows. Take a bow Gosden. Doing your bit to help the bookies, as if they need any help. Emily Upjohn on the Vermeille run had a favourites chance in this, and then Danielle was punted on the basis she would love the ground.

Take my comment back about Gosden and Danielle. It looks as if she didn't make it on ratings.

Don't you think 1m 2f could be a bit sharp for him, seems to do better over further and on better ground. 6/4 I will be laying.

No, assuming he got a reasonable ride I think he would have won the Irish Champion a lot easier than Economics did. The ground may blunt that speed, but at least he has some form on the ground.

Economics is almost at a similar price to Calandagan. As such, it's not economic to back Economics given the ground uncertainty. I'll side with Calandagan or Los Angeles. The latter is battle-hardy, and will be ridden with more enterprise than at leopardstown.
