3.3

To put that into context, the going stick reading for the River Soar is currently 3.1

Absolutely fed up of discussing the inaccuracies of anything going related on here.

Folk more interested in show us your bets nonsense and posting fake p&l's.

Suffice to say an accurate understanding of the going is vital to punters and all connections and in its current form drops woefully short.

BHA not interested in making any improvements.

It's firmed up a bit since your post last night GEORGE - look.3.4 earlier this morning...

Thanks for the updated top2rated, might 'dry' out to 3.5 by the first race.

I'm confidently predicting an average of > +2 seconds / furlong above the RP standard.

Beg to differ, GEORGE.

I'm confidently predicting an average < 2 seconds / furlong above the RP standard.

Even lower than the 3.7 reading on April 14 2023. That was the heaviest ground I have recorded in the last few years. The 5f race on that day recorded the same time, 70.1 seconds, as a 6f race 3 months later Crazy

Market Rasen first 3 race times:

17.5 seconds slower than standard
20 seconds slower than standard
30.7 seconds slower than standard

Good going apparently. Not a chance. Come racing! 2024 and we cant accurately convey racing conditions, what a time to be alive.

Sam, it doesn't even look like good going on the telly.  The inside looks like the place to avoid as it appears to be cut up and riding slow.

Couldnt agree more oneten, you shouldn't have to walk the track to bet with confidence before the meeting starts.

Its simply not good enough. Where's the actual encouragement to have a bet if you don't have a grasp on what the racing surface is going to be.

One of the Racing UK pundits at the track was heard to desrcibe it as drying ground. Lazy lazy journalism, clearly never even went for a look, let alone a walk round it.

Games gone.

The change in watering policy some years ago from doing so for solely grass growth maintenance purposes, to materially altering the going itself to create an essentially modified artificial turf surface (firm regarded as an F word), is when the rot set in concerning reliable ground assessments.

Sam, strangely though I thought Leicester looked like it was riding ok to my eye.
Sure, I know the times were slow, but I have seen horses struggling to get home , slogging up the hill to the finish, as I'm sure you have.
When it's bottomless there,  they are strung out like the proverbial washing.
Even u raced 2yr old weren't floundering in it..

I don't think the going stick reading was even accurate today.  Probably stuck it in gravel in the car park- haha.

The going was good at Market Rasen. That's what those times indicate anyway. The rails had been moved out so far that the races were a furlong or more further than advertised. With a card full of moderate horses, those times are bang-on for good ground.

Rails: Wood bend is out 24yds. Stands Bend is out 23yds Hurdle and out 24yds Chase.

2:05pm: Race distance is now +213y to 2m 1f 118y

2:35pm: Race distance is now +213y to 2m 5f 132y

3:05pm: Race distance is now +213y to 2m 1f 118y

3:35pm: Race distance is now +282y to 3m 78y

4:05pm: Race distance is now +288y to 2m 6f 157y

4:35pm: Race distance is now +216y to 2m 4f 30y

5:08pm: Race distance is now +213y to 2m 1f 118y

Not a chance that was good ground.

The inside was much softer, the impression the horses are leaving on the surface surely tells you that?

Hey GEORGE.B the races at Leicester (heavy ground) on Tuesday were, on average, 1.62 seconds per furlong slower than standard.

Hang on a tick, top2rated, you need to adjust that and add on 0.5 seconds owing to the strong tailwind.
By:
GEORGE.B
When: 17 Oct 24 17:08
So I make that an average of 2.12 seconds per furlong slower than standard when allowing for the tailwind factor.

I beg to differ once again, GEORGE.

The going stick reading is 2.9 for today - deffo going to be two or more seconds per furlong above standard imo - unless there's a tailwind!
