Just like every time you start one of these threads - it was a Filthy Each Way Race.
What price would you have offered - if you had to pay 1/5 the odds on three places?

If you were a bookie sparrow and offered 11/1 at bookmaker place terms it would probably be your final day in the job
I was going to start a thread stating how poor the exchange are only offering 1/6 or whatever it was for 3 places vs the bookmakers 4/5 but thought why bother

You talk hayden and management as if nobody might be interested in backing the second favourite. Just thinking of the crumbs off the table bets. As some of us will always say there needs to be win and place separate markets to give punters the true odds.

You keep it up hayden but tell that to the punters who backed the winner at 4/1.

Anyone who backed that win only at bookmaker odds is well beyond help sparrow and they need to learn to look after themselves.
My dream would be standing next to one in a bookmakers and i'd ask him to make it e/way and i'd take the place part
Look after No1 sparrow and let the mugs look after themselves

That already exists if you want it - it's called Betfair Exchange.
Why would you want your fellow punters to have less options?
You get very animated when people that don't bet on the All Weather or in low class handicaps suggest that those options should be stopped. Why would you want to stop people that like betting each-way (under the correct circumstances) from doing so?

The problem as I'm sure you know hayden is that a large percentage of punters will have no idea of the exchange odds. The old traditional EW bet is well past it's sell by date and needs to be replaced by markets for win and place only.

altho in sparrow's defence it would be nice to have the rtv pundits telling punters before the race that if they want to back win only, they should do it on an exchange.

Management, that is nonsense and nothing to do with people having the option to bet at true odds. We all know about the Exchange yet thousands of punters no nothing at all.

If bookmakers displayed place only on that race sparrow you'd get around 1/7 which are the true odds of that horse finishing in the first three with the true win odds 114/1 bar three , as displayed on the exchange , so what's the difference.
Or would you expect 4/5 for a place as it's 4/1 at 1/5th odds top three

You do know that Betfair have an Each Way market don't you?
And that 11/1 was not on offer in that market.
You could have just as easily started a thread asking why Betfair was only offering about 7/2 or 4/1 in the EW market, when it was 11/1 in the win market.

Management, I couldn't care less about the exchange EW markets but as you bring up the subject can a punter have 20% win and 80% place on the exchange EW market or is it the limited level 50% stakes like the bookmaker bet.

If i was a one-dimensional punter sparrow that couldn't spot an opportunity if it smacked me in the face , then i may agree with you.
Until the inevitability of next time

No. But you can do that in another market that is available to you. And I am not calling for that market to be stopped or abolished or replaced.
You seem like a decent fella.
So I'm gonna leave it there.

You're just about the last person i'd ever want to fall out with on here sparrow , we've had a good insult free debate which is a rarity indeed on here.
Just a healthy difference of opinion that's all
