Outside the inner circle does anyone outside the inner circle have a clue what's more important to them, education or winning. If it's winning you get the distinct impression they would all be a lot better off if ridden much closer to the pace. Dropped out, it makes it so much more difficult if the jumping isn't what it should be.

Thing is, when you drop a novice way out the back (like our Harry always does), that`s bad enough, but one jumping error (like that one earlier) when trying to make up ground, they have absolutely no chance.

Another thing that surprises me (bearing in mind the family`s world class show jumping background) is that a lot of their horses (Hurdles and Fences) are very poor jumpers.

Outfit to steer clear off, at the moment they mostly seem to be ridden as non jiggers

Until Chelt hcps then suddenly the seasons non triers sprout wings. Agree with op, you can give weight away but not ground. Applies to all races imo.

Racing Post table tour of this yard is a nightmare tale of horror that delivers over and over throughout the season. Tbf most stable tours are but Dan's is deffo filed under fiction.

Apparently every time he tells a porky he eats one too.

Cheltenham 25 October 2024:
Race 4 - The Sky Bet Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2) (Registered As The Sharp Novices' Hurdle) (GBB
Race) (Class 1)
Harry Skelton, the rider of the winner, VALGRAND (FR), was found to have used his whip when his
mount was clearly winning. Allowing for the fact that Skelton has had over 150 rides in Great Britain
since his previous whip breach, mitigation on penalty was applied. He will be suspended for 2 days as
follows; Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 November 2024.

so after mitigation its just 2 days for 3 hits when clearly winning, all of which were above shoulder height & all were with excessive force
just scrap these rules & start again because its total bollox from start to finish

Making the running requires a level of fitness so first time out it is a risky strategy as Cobden and Nicholls are finding. Only the very fit or very good ones are getting home when ridden from the front.

How could you possibly know that? They could easily be winning just because they are being ridden (far) more economically. One of the nonsense phrases is 'he did it the hard way' when something wins from the front. Invariably, that is the place to be. Droping horses out the back (particularly in slowly run races) when there is no reason not to sit closer, is just a nonsense. In fact if trainers can't get horses to settle at home they shouldn't be trying to do it on a racecourse. When they win from behind, more often than not the ability is just getting the jock out of a hole. Skelton has lost at least two bumpers in the last few days because of poor rides. No doubt there will be many more to follow. Having to make up cheap lengths given away is not a kinder introduction.

Bit of a rarity there at Wetherby the Skelton 'good thing' went out like a light. Surprised if it's down to fitness.
