Can people still bet on the tote in shops, and on here.

Can’t see why given now a private company, bit like ladbrokes taking bets for William hill.

French Placepot
Placepot prize fund: £7,291 Races: 12:55 1:30 2:05 3:20 4:05 & 4:40
Status: Result.
Dividend of £123.30 to a £1 stake won by 59.14 units.

WOW  ... Well done Tote, must be the lowest Total in Placepot history. LaughGrin

When you think of it - less people playing means less people getting it up and it can return a decent dividend even with fancied runners getting placed. £123 is a good payout. 1,230 quid for a tenner.

I`ve had it up with 200,000 in the Pool and it paid £33.

As mighty mac says...
It's all relative, smaller pool, less winners
The dividend is all that matters
But berksy won't answer questions regarding T0te seeding anyway
Bookies take Placepot bets because they get 5 or 10 percent, at a guess, of total stakes as commission, no downside, just got to facilitate the bets

For anybody that doesn`t know you get a little bit bigger return if you place your placepot on Tote website.

... Lets be honest it was only a marketing ploy to get more Mugs to open a Tote account.
Failed I guess looking at the figures involved.

Back in the day before the advent of the internet, nearly every racegoer had a Tote credit account.

it wasn't too long ago Tote Credit had a betting shop at longchamp. Those were the days. It would make a fortune I imagine. Both then and now

Where on the course and when Donegal? Never seen it over decades of attending and dubious imo the PMU would have allowed a foreign company to take their business but will stand corrected and visit specsavers if I missed it!!

I went from 2003 to 2011 Cag and it was definitely there for the first 6 or 7 of those years. Generally it was located under the steps leading up to the top of the parade ring. If you came in through main double iron gates, walked across the lawn past the statue of Gladiateur, the first thing you would hit was the Tote Credit stall. I think the French got miffed with it of course, since it took income from them.

That is where we usually came in back then Donegal, never noticed it tbh, I do remember a stall selling the Racing Post in that area as you came in and rows of portaloo toilets and we did not hang around as it stunk.

It was very popular C. No queues to place a bet and collect if you won. More time for guzzling beer. The fortnightly account , when it arrived, was often a sobering read though!

LOL, maybe a good thing I never noticed then!! My worst crime at the meetings was throwing away coupled PMU tickets after too much red for the band of ticket searchers to find.
