Disapointing really, jockey never put hom in the race. Having said that,it was obvious 10 minutes before race he was not expected to win.

Apparently the horse had been misbehaving throughout before the race possibly the reason for the barge drift. However, I'd agree the horse was not placed to challenge; the winner was gifted a soft lead.
Report Mat22 October 5, 2024 3:04 PM BST
Heavy yeah right....Laugh....going nothing to do with the way the horse ran...wac

It was very poor when the obvious danger was already clear after 100 yards.

It is almost as though nobody has watched his previous races.

An enquiry was held into the running and riding of AL AASY (IRE), ridden by Cieren Fallon and trained by William Haggas, which finished placed second, beaten by 2 lengths. Fallon was interviewed and shown recordings of the race. Fallon stated that the instructions were to drop out and be patient on the gelding. He explained that he found himself in a pocket further back than an ideal when the eventual winner, AL QAREEM (IRE), was asked for its initial effort and extended away from the field exiting the back straight. He added that upon entering the home straight he was conscious of its running style so he asked the gelding to lengthen when in the clear before asking for its maximum effort approaching the final furlong. Fallon’s explanation was noted.
Report 1st time poster October 6, 2024 10:09 AM BST
in his previous win he was left in front miles out [ for him ] and dotted up, if you cant settle a horse a few lengths behind a horse like al qareem your not much of a jock IMO,no need to hold up a horse behind the rags with al qareem in the race,he makes the race for someone like al aasy
Report Rico-Dangleflaps October 6, 2024 10:19 AM BST
im assuming plenty here made a lot laying it IR?
Report Rico-Dangleflaps October 6, 2024 10:29 AM BST
going yest soft..Al Asay most of its form on good/firm..Al Qareem soft/heavy..to the eye Al Qareem looked to have went too quick..Al Asay was 6L down early with a few just in front of it..it came lagging from 3f out as per..Al Qareem outstayed it.

simple.

over 8s slow suggests the pace was not that fast even allowing for the soft going
rest of races at Ascot between 1-3 seconds slow albeit over lesser distances
it was a badly judged ride by Fallon and the drift made it look all the worse
at least the stewards enquired and they had to give an explanation of sorts
Report Rico-Dangleflaps October 6, 2024 12:52 PM BST
watch the replay and come back and tell me the winner went slow.
Report Rico-Dangleflaps October 6, 2024 1:18 PM BST
was a steady ish pace 1st 3-4f then he quickened it up.
Report N-east Correspondent October 6, 2024 1:22 PM BST
the clock rarely lies, doesnt matter how fast it looks on TV

the other jockeys should have known the pace wasnt overly quick even allowing for going
they were giving the winner a soft lead and the fact it quickened
again when the challengers finally came (to an extent) suggests that too

Al Qaarem is a smart group 2 winning horse and to give it an easy lead was asking for trouble
Al Aasy has plenty G/S form including in a group 1 as I said no bet in race but can see
why stewards enquired about the ride Fallon gave 2nd
