You don't technically need a passport - but you may run into issues without one, unless you have either ID.

wouldn't make sense to ask to see passport at Dublin.  if they refused to let you enter, all you'd need to do would be to travel to Belfast (domestic flight), wander down to Dublin (zero border controls), tap the fella that didn't let you into his country on the shoulder and say hiya !!

If you get into Ibiza today without a passport, Dublin should be a breeze!

Where do these clowns appear from? His account is over 20 years old yet he seems like a kid.

No, a passport is not legally required for British citizens to enter Ireland due to the Common Travel Area (CTA). The CTA is an agreement between the UK and Ireland that allows citizens of both countries to move freely between the two countries. However, it is advisable to carry a passport or other proof of British nationality when traveling to Ireland, especially if you were born outside the UK

Hulk, your idea wouldn't work as they won't let you on a domestic flight without a passport.
Report dave1357 October 4, 2024 12:02 PM BST
don't think that's correct for all airlines - driving licence fine for easyjet domestic and ba, I think. But ryanair need a passport, as their staff love annoying customers and saving £3 worth of aviation fuel by refusing them boarding

If you’re a citizen of Ireland and/or Britain, you need to carry some form of official photo identification in order to be able to fly with us.

There used to be a quick 24 hour passport for Ireland, dead easy, easily fiddled etc.back in the day.

I went to Valencia v Man Utd in the 90s,a lad came with us from the pub,he stuck an Arthur alibis ton panini sticker on a pice of card, but he got their and back through customs.

No chance today.
