Lester Piggott rode the winner of the Triumph Hurdle.

.... not a lot of people know that.

If you went into betting shops and said Lester Piggott rode the winner of the Triumph Hurdle, 99% would say rubbish. If you asked majority on here to name the horse, without googling it, very very few could.

.... and that`s 99% of the old guys that knew who Lester Piggott was.

You'd be asking said question primarily pitched to degenerates pumping cash into the crack cocaine machines, so I'd hazard a guess they wouldn't be bothered to expend the energy of a single solitary brain cell let alone afford themselves to feign some fashion of miniscule intrigue into your anachronistic poser.

Very true Leif. Very true.

Apologies to aaj. I thought he meant "get a grip" as everybody would know that the great Lester Piggott rode the Triumph Hurdle winner in 1954 but with hindsight, I think he probably meant that I was talking rubbish saying that Lester achieved this remarkable feat. That would make more sense.

At least your honest. A lot would have said they meant the latter, that everybody would know that fact, lol.

Good luck with your bets.

Whippin would have had his tongue firmly in his cheek as it is a running joke and is said every year about the winner of this very race ever since 2006 when another easy winner of this race went on to win the Triumph Hurdle!!!

In March 1954 Lester Piggott won the Birdlip Hurdle at Cheltenham on Mull Sack trained by his father Keith at Lambourn.
