City Of Troy’s exciting Breeders’ Cup Classic bid at Del Mar on November 2 will not be televised on ITV.

The terrestrial channel has broadcasted all the Grade 1 races at the world-renowned two-day meeting in recent years but ITV will not be showing the fixture this year.

An ITV spokesperson said that the timings for this year’s meeting clash with existing contracted programming across ITV’s channels, leading to the Breeders’ Cup not being able to be shown.

The official race order and race times for the meeting in California will be released on October 23.

Santa Anita hosted the Breeders’ Cup last year, with five races shown on ITV3 on the first night and nine races televised on ITV4 on the second night. The same two channels were used for the 2022 Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland.

City Of Troy’s attempt to win the feature event is the most anticipated Flat race of the year, with Aidan O’Brien bidding to win the Classic for the first time.

The Derby, Eclipse and Juddmonte International winner will have his next preparation for the race when galloping at Southwell on Friday afternoon.

Notable Speech and Porta Fortuna could clash in the Breeders’ Cup Mile, while Bradsell, Believing and Big Evs feature prominently in the Turf Sprint betting.

Not the best news for racing. Interesting to see just what the contracted programmes are on ITV3 and 4 for those nights. If they are just repeats wouldn't look very good at all.

Also be interesting to know how the viewing figures for the friday experiment went down. I suspect an experiment not to be repeated.

like I posted elsewhere yesterday 4 yrs ago according to chamberlain/ITV the world would end if they didn't cover brigadeer night at sandown, now what sandown evening meeting, they covered it once I think and now they never even mention it,
all season/summer stride lengths were mentioned 24/7 by every pundit guest on every racing show, when was the last time they were seriously mentioned ,been jettisoned as quickly as they took over,no doubt pro data.opta etc paid plenty of people plenty of money to shove down our throats 24/7,now if you bought in to it ,they've abandoned you,
never heard economics, bradsell, yan brugels stride length mentioned once at the weekend

Halfway house. Still interested in what will be keeping the rest of the meeting off air. Today NFL on main channel, and the sport's most important flat race on one of the other channels.
