Was kicked before the start of his race today (finished stone last) Shouldn't a horse that gets kicked before the start of a race become an instant withdrawal? I mean, when one breaks out from the stalls it is. I feel this is the correct thing to do and it should be the case for one that gets kicked IMVHO.

It looked like Berkshire Sundance was trying to break out of the stalls yet still deemed a runner, just tough luck I suppose if betting on an exchange.

Horse's welfare should be paramount. I also don't think it's a good look to the betting public to let a Horse run after being kicked.

What is the protocol ? You would think a horse that has been kicked would at least need to be checked by a vet.?

I think it's just a vet check and then allowed to run. Most unsatisfactory!
