Saw this 4.20 Cork, and thought no 1 was named Aston Villa at first glance, isn't but got me thinking can you name a horse after a football club, can't think of any but been plenty of horses named after footballers.

My first job in Racing was with Robert Armstrong we had a Horse called Elland Road and i think he was owned by Manny Cussins, he had the best Maiden in the Country tag but was dissapointing in the end.

Remember Blabbermouth, believe was owned by John Banks, asked Brian Clough if he could name his horse after him, Cloughie refused so he called it Blabbermouth!Grin

Cowdenbeath springs to mind. Decent handicapper trained by the late great Ryan Price for Harry Demitriou.

Then more recently the brilliant Lossiemouth whom Richy named after the Highland league team.

And Montrose the Kentucky Derby winner.
