right Mr.A Trainer...
we're giving you a 6 month ban... but if you want your wife/trainer/sister/brother/mate/dog or goldfish to train the horses that's fine by us... see you in 6 months mate. just a total laughing stock... typical racing stuff... make it look like we are tough to the mug public but really we are big softies who don't give a flying. oh aye. |

It's like a proven dodgy company director with a history of wanton frauds who's been given a ban on holding future directorship or managing any company for a determined period using a "front" (named) person whilst executing the activities of a managing director or CEO in the background; Elliot was banned, but was allowed by the IHRB to nominate an associate to manage his strings whilst serving his suspension.

it's farcical stuff impossible...
always the same with racing's authorities tho i'm afraid... treat the public like fools but expect them to help fund the sport... sums the game up imv. |

In Ireland it's who you are and who you know eg nepotism and cronyism.
I'm shocked but not surprised Mr Martin was not given a substantial fine post his activities at Newcastle. Mr Martin's original 6-month suspension was suspended for two years. However, the ungrateful and cheeky sort decided to appeal resulting in only part (3-months) of the six originally imposed would be suspended imposed by the Appeal Panel. Then Mr Martin decided to "flout" his suspension in public in the UK at Newcastle racecourse. Once again no fine was imposed but only an increased period of suspension. All these for a trainer with a chequered history. Pathetic! |

At Limerick in Ireland the local stewards imposed a 30-day suspension for Mr Geraghty (JP's retained jockey) for riding a very bad judged race on the fav ie gave 2nd fav (a proven stayer) a soft 20-length start. This was rescinded by the IHRB on Appeal possibly because the 30-day suspension of Mr Geraghty would mean the jockey missing Cheltenham that year.
