James Doyle Sir Michael Stoute 5 97 126 120 129 – Held up in 6th, progress over 2f out, ridden to chase leader well over 1f out, driven and gradually closed, stayed on stoutly to lead last 75yds, very game (op 13/8) 2 (6) nk 2. Crystal Ocean 6/4F William Buick Sir Michael Stoute 4 97 122 119 128 – Looked well, tracked leading pair, led over 2f out and committed for home, driven and 2 lengths ahead over 1f out, stayed on gamely but worn down last 75yds after stirring battle (op 13/8) In my top 10 favourite races of all time. Stoute delivered both horses on the day in the absolute best form he could get them in. A truly great Horse Race.  |
