'Only' had the ten horses for the owner

Moved some last year from the Crisfords. I suppose that he pays the bills and is entitled to move them as he likes

Obaid a tricky customer. Seems to change opinions on trainer like the wind changes direction.
Though he does have previous and its only history repeating itself. He treated Luca the same way and pulled 30 or 40 out of there in one day. |

Some strange owners in the game tbf
By:
Could have won the Arc if he'd left Postponed with Luca..Varian just a little yesboy..
By:
Strange folk the fuzzie-wuzzies.

Has sent a few to Kevin Ryan....Varian V Ryan having worked for one of them i know which one i would be employing to Train my Horses.
By:
And dont ask me who.

So Acey, out of interest which one of RV o KR would you use to train them ?
By:
You will have to wait for The Book oneten.

Don't ask him..he's dying to tell you..

I was not impressed that is all i am saying.

So what sort of things did you not agree with / would do differently ?
By:
I will just say this i thnk one is vastly over rated.

As you know Acey, the forum is dead, so its only you and me here.
Shame as it could be an interesting discussion. |
By:
Well Varian hasn't been training that long (2010ish), unless you're including when he was a no.2 to MJ... and i'm under the impression that Acey is getting on a bit and been out of the game a few years.... so on that basis

Lost a few AMO horses aswell this season.

I will just say this i thnk one is vastly over rated Regular readers will know the answer to this cuz acey hasn't been shy in the past about saying what he thinks. |
By:
Andriy, Thank you, I like your logic. Continuing along the same lines, referring back to Aceys comment "I think one is vastly overrated" - a trainer is rated on their results and Roger's results are top notch.
I think you cracked the case Sherlock. Just a pity that Acey didnt elaborate a little as it would be interesting to hear what he didnt like and why, as having read on here that he worked for Major Hern and the likes of Gosdens so he should know a good trainer / yard when he's there. |

You would get rogered if you backed his odds on shots.
By:
Trident - Haha :) I think thats the case with most odds on shots though, don't you ?
By:
Apparently Karl Burke, for example, has over 20 horses for Sheikh Obaid, so as Varian was predominantly his main trainer for quite a while, fair to say the writing has been on the wall with him down to just ten horses for the owner.

By:
hello at. another fred you were on disappeared the other day, and not for the first time. someone clearly doesnt like being contradicted and seemingly has it in for you, so if you want to make a complaint i will back you up, and have kept a copy of said fred as evidence that someone is on a power trip and abusing their postion

When Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum stopped supporting Channon stable can't remember anyone making a big deal of that.
By:
Channon had a good filly of his that was a Classic prospect, can't think of her name
atm.Killed on the gallops or had a bad accident. |
By:
Hamdan Al Maktoum was notable in his loyalty to his band of trainers
but there is an exception Stopped supporting Roger Charlton early in his career |
By:
Obaid is an owner who likes to call the shorts eg runs his horses at Meydan. Has he any with Beckett?; JP is super supportive of O'Neill.
By:
I believe Roger won a free flight in a 2 seater Spitfire for nabbing this prize but didn't fancy it so Willie took it.
