Economics short priced favourite. Did he just bolt up in a poor Dante? The second looked a plodder on the day, and nothing has done much for the form. I took the 8/1 Almaqam last night. Smart looking horse who was never in contention at Royal Ascot, but fair chance he can improve for the step up in trip.

seems they couldn't find a race for him at home - yet haggas on today "concerned the ground will be quite quick"

I thought Economics was impressive in the Dante and the well beaten Ancient Wisdom & Al Musmak have both won since. There must be a doubt about the ground for both Almaqam & Bright Picture. Strange comment by Haggis given they elected to go for this Deauville race. 6/5 with Slybet seems a good price to me, if he turns up in the same form.

Certainly wouldn’t be laying it…..

the front 4 all have good chances look short but picking the winner of those 4 is difficult imo. question marks around most of the small field bright picture looks the most solid of the 4 in my book but I am having a small ew bet on arrow eagle who ran  better than the result when btn 6 l  by arc fav look de vega and around 4l 3rd played sosie who is prominent in the arc betting and has since won the Gran Paris ,arrow eagle didn't have the clearest of runs in the jockey club and wernt knocked about at the finish . 40/1 looks big imo.

How about Bright Picture ? Only btn by the horse that hosed up in the King Edward 7th at Ascot ?  Could be quite decent imo

Economics for me. looks a picture in the paddock.
Very relaxed, price not great but do think he will win it.

yes iffy trip on the outer, quite keen, tried to give him an easy time and still win. not much to dislike, still looks a bit raw as well.

Difficult to know what to make of that. Looked beat, but ended up winning easily. The second is only a Group 3 winner. Almaqam looked slow over a mile, and just as slow over the longer trip. No improvement at all, and looks one to avoid.

The ground looked poached around the inside and one of the local jocks made sure he moved away from it, but Levey ended up drifting there in the home straight and Buick was always on the inner.

So while Almaqam was beaten far enough, he might have been on the worst ground and may want it easier anyway given how visually impressive he was at Sandown.

As for Economics, given the suspicion he's a bleeder, will he be able to take a relatively quick return against stronger opposition, that's if we see him again and he's raised in class?

Just watching the 4.35 there, Buick raced 3-wide before quickening like Zafonic in the home straight.
