Stringhalt!   easier to say than Equine Reflex Hypertonia.

Would this be the reason horse was gelded?

It would have made it difficult to market him as a stallion prospect. So you might as well geld him and make him easier to train.

Screaming - Not sure having stringhalt hampers training. There are quite a few top class stringhalt; we've seen one today. I think one of the American classic winners (Preakness?) was such.

Yes indeed, interesting that never ran as a 2 yo and straight into 12f races as a 3 yo, good middle distance horse its German sire Alderflug, must have watched a bit of goose stepping.

No, I meant a gelding is easier to train than a colt. So, if stringhalt means a colt isn't likely to become stallion, then you might as well geld him/

What I'm trying to say is that stringhalt is a symptom of some sort of underlying nerve problem. You're not going to send your mare to a stallion with a nerve problem which he might pass on to his offspring.

So, without a future as a stallion, regardless of how he performs on the track, your only remaining target is prize money. Off-hand, I think that the Arc is the only race from which a 4yo-plus gelding would be excluded. Other than that, a 4yo-plus gelding would generally be more readily trainable and would win more races and prize money than a 4yo colt
