Fund is already up to £5k. Many moons ago I was part of an emergency hospitalisation like this. It will be a huge relief to her and family to know they can park any immediate financial issues and focus on recovery.

We shouldn’t need these go fund mes,if my scheme was introduced by bookies.
Coppers for croppers
Customers should be able to sign up to an injured jockeys/ re training of race horses etc,through a scheme,where upon every winning bet,the loose change over the nearest pound,I.e. win 20.17, donate the 17p to this scheme.
Most punters wouldn’t mind leaving the pennies from a win to go towards this.
It would be voluntary so wouldn’t be a problem anyway.
On line or in shop,could work the same.
In shop you win 470.25.they count out the 470,do you really need to wait around for the 25p,same on line.
Traders could opt out as the pennies might add up and affect their positions.
All winnings rounded down to nearest quid,all the coppers could then be given to anyone who has come a cropper jockey,staff or horse,from their role in providing the chance for the punter collecting those winnings.
No one would miss the pennies,but they d add up over the year to help the croppers.
At most stores these days you’re asked if you want to make a donation to charity anyway,when you pay.

Alice Procter has left intensive care but will require “further careful evaluation” after sustaining an injury to her spinal cord in a fall at Cartmel earlier this month, the Injured Jockeys Fund has said.
The 21-year-old amateur was airlifted to hospital in Preston after her fall from Uggy Uggy Uggy in the female riders’ handicap hurdle on July 20 and has since undergone surgery.
Giving an update on Tuesday, the IJF said in a statement: “Amateur jockey Alice Procter has now left Intensive Care at the Royal Preston Hospital.
“As a consequence of her fall, she sustained an injury to the spinal cord in the thoracic region which is affecting the lower half of her body. This will require further careful evaluation to guide future treatment and rehabilitation.
“Alice is extremely grateful for the skill and care of the hospital medical team and for the messages of support from her friends and colleagues across the industry.”
A GoFundMe page set up for Procter with an initial target of £5,000 has raised over £15,000 in just three days.
A talented equestrian, Procter was riding Uggy Uggy Uggy for Dorset-based trainer Keiran Burke, who said: “To have already raised so much money once again highlights how brilliant the racing community is in times such as this.
“It really does highlight that in circumstances such as this, racing rallies together brilliantly.”
The page has been set up by Burke’s staff, and on it a statement posted by Alice Gregory reads: “While Alice excels in the saddle and was injured doing something that she loves best, she is also an integral member of (Keiran) Burke’s Whitcombe Stables team in Dorset where not only does she ride out and provide brilliant care for the horses, but is invaluable in the office making entries and socialising with owners.
“Alice faces a long journey in so many ways, but the purpose of this GoFundMe page is to make that journey just that little bit easier, allaying some financial worries that she doesn’t deserve to endure and meaning that if there is something that she needs to purchase urgently, she has the means to do so.”

Well done Jamee in bringing this to our attention and to those helping to bring some little comfort to the poor lady and her family.
Just over 16K from 210 donations is shockingly poor when you consider the money swilling around in racing, Billy Bunters included.
Surely the Injured Jockeys Fund will take care of this young girl for the rest of her life....I would be horrified if they didn't.
I would have thought so acey. Surely they should be in control of the matter.
It says they provide grants for specific needs and some financial support. The idea they will take care of her for the rest of her life is just not true.
Anyone got an update on this brave girl’s progress ?
while it's laudable for punters to add their few quid in, surely the responsibility to fund this kind of thing should come from some of the deep pockets that run this game instead....
She was moved to a specialist unit at Southampton Hospital on August 13th. I have not heard since.

The latest filed accounts Jan 2024 of the Injured Jockeys Fund shows assets of 57 million, do they not cover this situation?

Apparently, the benevolent owners of the local village have given a bungalow to her.
