Probably benefits the casual viewer which these tournaments get in droves. Anyone with a knowledge of the game and tactics and formations, have no need to listen to any of the pundits. Watched the BBC feed, Shearer was embarrassing to have to listen to.
You know when the commentator and summariser are doing an OK job, when you just don't notice them above what you are seeing on the field.
