The dead eight runners declared with City Of Troy around 1/3.
Really warm and windy today but some decent rain around on Friday so hopefully ground won’t be far off good and certainly should be no excuses for withdrawals, though it feels almost inevitable that there will be one.
The horse I like e/w is Al Riffa at 25/1.
Group 1 winning 2 year old but then picked up a niggle and missed the first half of his 3 year old season and after a pipe opener at the Curragh he ran a cracker when beaten 1/2l by the unbeaten, and subsequent Arc winner, Ace Impact. Presumably had another problem after that as he didn't run again.
Came back out in the Prix Ganay and was beaten 1/2l in a blanket finish.
All his runs had been on good or softer but then bizarrely Joseph O’Brien decided to take him to Saratoga on firm ground and a tight flat track where he was outpaced and off the bridle the whole way. Could have told him that if he’d just asked.
10 furlongs at Sandown looks the perfect track and trip for him assuming the ground isn’t too fast.
Only negative is the trainer whose horses have been mainly out of form all season.
The question is was that real or staged? Because the work horse looks like he’d struggle to win a 0-70 handicap.
Coolmore trailer of his final prep is out.Completely annihilated his work horse. The question is was that real or staged? Because the work horse looks like he’d struggle to win a 0-70 handicap.
Well the non runners did me a favour as I got a quarter the odds for the place. Wish the jockey had challenged toward the inside of the bunch rather than the outside as the ground was clearly better there on the last furlong. Once Moore got the rail it was game over.
