Watched it yesterday 6pm hardly anything on Farage which I commented they have it in for him, tonight 6pm news big drama and another reporter going live about a reform member now joining conservatives because they are all racists, and it was obviously a set up to cause maximum damage, you can see who’s side BBC’s is on, terrible manipulated coverage,  no wonder the bbc is no longer fit for purpose as they are not independent and are bent

But they are enjoying covering the cupid stunt from the Libs who is forecast to get 10% vote share.
Report Stark July 2, 2024 8:52 PM BST
It's all part of the game. Reform defectors are being headhunted with the usual promises of wealth, career progression and safe seats next time round. The tories will become an irrelevance by the end of the week.
Report Cider July 2, 2024 8:57 PM BST
The establishment smearing us all as racists worked so well for them back in 2016, they've dusted down the same trick again. Won't work in 2024 either.
Report swiftynifty July 2, 2024 9:03 PM BST
there are racists in all parties, most of them are in the Labour party.

Report Cider July 2, 2024 9:08 PM BST
Of course, the bbc wanted one as pm quite recently, and the next pm on Friday spent a number of years fully supporting him.

The incessant coordinated smear campaign mounted over the last week is so transparent, the only people still taken in by it would never vote reform anyway.
Report Cider July 2, 2024 9:11 PM BST
even if you think that acey, the 'state' broadcaster shouldn't be using the tv tax to try and manipulate the election. the whole establishment is fully behind it, so nothing will happen.
Report swiftynifty July 2, 2024 9:12 PM BST
acey, he is certainly unique. He's the only one still saying now what he said 20 years ago.

Same with France. The BBC are trying to encourage the voters to unite against Marine Le Pen. I don't like her politics but it is not the place of the BBC to oppose her. Democracy is supposed to give every candidate and voter an equal chance but the establishment led by the BBC knows best and feels it necessary to lecture the great unwashed on how to vote.

Who would you rather spend a day at the races with Starmer or Farage.
Report Cider July 2, 2024 9:48 PM BST
How about Trump sage, the bbc bias against him is even more naked. I'm willing to bet they covered Joe's debate 'performance' extremely sympathetically. Swap that for Trump and they would be demanding his removal from office.
Report Ibrahima Sonko July 2, 2024 9:53 PM BST
I am enjoying the media coverage, THEY still think that they are reporting and we do not see it.

THEY are projecting, it worked before the internet.

The surprise is that anyone wouldn't have expected them to have reported the story, and the other other surprise that it took her so long to come to her conclusion.

Report Cider July 2, 2024 11:27 PM BST
drum, you think it's the top story national headline news that someone who joined a party in the last month, who was one of the thousands of candidates that nobody heard of before, or will hear of again and won't get near winning their seat has switched parties back to the one she supported before. It's palpably a confected story so that the smear campaign can continue up to polling day. Even if you believe that she was a genuine ruk supporter (highly unlikely), it's hardly a major new story.

In answer to sageform's why would anyone want a politician as a racing companion? Probably because you could have been lucky & had Clement Freud as one.

My favourite oft-heard story of his.....

I heard a rather nice story about a man who drank a lot and his wife said "if you ever come home drunk again, I'm going to leave you". He went out to a pub and drank a lot and was sick all over his shirt, and said to his friend "If I go home like this my wife will leave me". His friend said "I tell you what, put a twenty-pound note in your inside jacket pocket, go home and show it to her and tell her somebody threw-up over you and he gave you the money for the dry-cleaning bill.".

He goes home and his wife's angry at the state of him and tells him she is leaving but he says "No, no, no, somebody was sick on me and he put a twenty-pound note in my jacket pocket for the dry-cleaning bill". His wife digs into his jacket pocket and pulls out some money, she said "Why have you got two twenty-pound notes in there?", he said "Oh the other is from the man who shat in my pants".

He needs to put his big boy pants on and swim with the grown ups .

The BBC's Disinformation Correspondent is Marianna Spring. She admitted lying on her CV to get the job. She is still employed by the BBC. Irony or what?
Report Jumper45 July 3, 2024 11:02 AM BST
Not just the BBC, but the rest of the mainstream media didn't want to make much mention of Biden's cognitive state over the last year, because he was their man, dismissing it all as deepfake lies by the other side, although if you take the time to delve deeper, it wasn't just die hard republicans stating it. Media manipulation here has backfired big time although the same media is strangely quiet in how it ballsed that one up.

Wether you are left or right, the mainstream media broadcasting or news is quite frankly an utter disgrace..
I think for most people now you just get the headlines and you make up your own mind.
The MSM employ an army of 'correspondents' and 'editors' who are used to explain the news story, with a huge Western/Liberal bias. So the BBC Washington correspondent gets stuck into Trump, the Asia correspondent goes in on CHina and the Russia correspondent will get stuck into Putin. Steve  Rosenberg I think is the Russia guy. TO be fair he speaks the lingo and you see the Russians having a good old laugh with him. Because to them they know what he is all about and to some extent Rosenberg is happy to play along.

I think the best way to combat this is to cut out these special correspondents, give the headline and just go straight to an interview with the individual parties concerned.
So for example if there is a news story about immigrants you get one spokesperson for immigration, one against. Then people can see with their own eyes who makes the better case.

Corbyn has been treated abominably. Not least by the next PM. I don't agree with his ideology on most things but at least he has conviction and we all know what he really thinks. Starmer just says what he thinks will benefit him most at that point in time, a total fraud.

Yes it's such as Corbyn and his crackpot ideas who were responsible for the Tory government that wrecked this country over the past 14 years.

The "Establishment" or what ever other term you prefer for those who run the Civil Service, the Law, County councils, NHS Trusts, Education etc. etc. are people who have found their way to a position of influence and are determined to stay there. They are certainly not democrats. Most people are happy to be deferential to them but I never was.
An example of what I mean. I received a water bill for a farm building which was empty of livestock for 6 months. It was for £400 ish. I turned it over to check what the letter next to the reading meant and it said "our meter is faulty". I called the help line to explain that the zero reading was correct and was told to pay the bill and an adjustment would be made to future bills. I was not satisfied so I spoke to the chief accountant. He told me the same nonsense and threatened a solicitors letter and bailiffs if I did not pay. So I told him that if he did that I would instruct my solicitor to send him a letter stating that he had demanded money with menaces for a product that I had not received and I would take them to court. He backed down immediately and told me to tear the bill up. Paper tigers everywhere.
Report Cider July 3, 2024 2:14 PM BST
The establishment very much does exist. Wayyy to deep to go into it so extensively on here but you just have to look at HS2, post office, covid enquiry, infected blood, flammable cladding ,foreign office bloke who went on holiday when Afghan collapsed. It's all set up to cream money off the proles, protectionism, anonymity and zero accountability. That's before you get into councils, public services, quangos et al.
