Can anyone help me out please? Had a couple of small bets on Beautiful Diamond in the 6.25 Lingfield.

£5 at 2.04 and £20 at 1.99.

Appreciating it was a dead heat my return was -£0.01. Can't except that I lose money (okay I know it's 1p). Betfair online Help useless, can't figure it out from their rules. Any help appreciated, just so I can let it go!!Cool

£2.50 @ 2.04 wins £2.60. £10 @ 1.99 wins £9.90 total won = £12.50. Total lost £12.50 ( half of your stake is lost.) Settlement is correct

Hard enough to find a winner ..never mind they half it when they do..they make enough the bookies should pay out 2 winners at full odds ..rip off merchents ..

Cobs 101 this is exactly what has happened to me. I cannot understand how you can back a winner, albeit a dead heat and lose! I was always led to believe at the bookmakers they would halve your stake and pay out on the winning odds ie £2 on a 2/1 gives you £3.

agree it is slightly confusing but is correct, and yes backing a winner and still losing out is daft , perhaps the rule should change a bit , but look atb me few years back , backed a winner on here, layed the 2nd , 30 mins later, winner thrown out , 2nd awarded the race,CryCryCry, it was a jessica harrington horse , it was a 3 year old in a 2 year old race, now that really is where a rule should change in favour of the punter, i backed the horse and hadnt a hope of winning

You only lose if you’re backing odds on and it dead heats.

All in all, it’s elementary arithmetic.

The DH rules have to work for layers as well as backers on here - unless you expect the layers to hand over more than they had staked to the backers?

It is rather disconcerting that users on here do not understand DH rules on an EXCHANGE!!!

A worrying thread. We have a serious care in the community issue here..

I think it's reasonably clearly laid out in the R&Rs?

Thanks Longbridge, agree it is clear. Unfortunately I was in a rush at the time and couldn't find the relevant rule so asked the question on here. TTT replied and that made perfect sense. Instead of that being the end of the thread a few maggots had to come on belittling me which I found rather pathetic. Cool
