I pretty much settled on Safecracker as my choice.

He’s been steadily moving up the ratings and recorded a smart win over 12f on good to firm at the Curragh last year.

This season he debuted over 10f against a couple of these and finished the race off very well…beaten 3 lengths by Crystal Black & Deakin but looking like if they met over 12f next time it would be a different result.

Johnny has long held him in high regard and has talked about the Ebor for him so I think it’s significant he’s targeted this race and opted to use Buick to get the job done.

Now here’s the thing…he’s 12/1 but if you click in the Without Ethical Diamond & Crystal Black market you can back him at 9/1 eachway 4 places.

That’s proper value….don’t need him to a win…an honourable 2nd to one of those or even a 3rd to both of them will do here.

Anyways I thought it was a very intriguing bet that was worth pursuing.
