Plenty of UK and Irish interest again but the French have kept the first three classics at home and so I am going for a home win.

The obvious race to look at is the French Guineas and both Rock,n Swing and Sparkling Plenty finished well from the back of the pack to finish on the heels of the leaders. Preference is for Rock'n Swing who is bred to want this trip.
Both have double figure draws which is not ideal but does mean they are close to twice the price they might be if they were drawn more favourably. Not a massive field so hopefully they can find a way through or sweep down there outside.

1pt e/w Rock'n Swing 18/1 4 places
0.5 pt e/w Sparkling Plenty 18/1 4 places

GL All.

well done uncle saved me starting a thread , rock n swing looked as bit unlucky in the french  gns and was noted running on strongly at the finish this trip will suit much better and she ticks a few boxes and a decent price ,still havent made me mind up yet but will back at least 2 here at biggish prices.
Report FOYLESWAR June 16, 2024 10:17 AM BST
its a tricky race and these french races often have hard luck storys aplenty lots wi chances but one who looks a massive price and is progressing is drawn on the inside and the way she won last time this trip could eeke out further improvement , 2 from 3 and her last win was on ground described as very heavy but whos to say she wont be as effective on this better ground and she could be worth taking a chance ew 4 places at 66/1 b365 .

My pal bought L'EQUIBRILISTE (translates to The Balancer or Tightrope Walker) for €10,000 at the Arquana (Deauville) Sales and named her after the bar where he had a drink afterwards.... she has far exceeded expectations and has won twice for him, the last being a Listed race that equates to our Lingfield Oaks Trial. Maxime Guyon was very impressed with her tenacity and the way she quickened up and ran on at the finish. He is contracted to ride for Wertheimer Frere in this race, so Hollie Doyle has been booked.
It has only cost €1,500 to enter her for this race, so it is worth the chance to dream, she has already paid for herself in winnings and future stud value.
She has her favoured G-S going and stall 5 is a bonus, so she may outrun her odds of 66/1 (90.0 on BF).
Good luck to all involved.

Yes, you have to be in it to win it ...bargains can be picked up in France where they have more claiming races than we do, so if you think one is worth a punt then they can be bought cheaply (compared to UK & Ireland) and the French seem to have little patience with their horses and are quick to put them in the sales.
A group of English owners "The Claiming Lads" (part based in France, they put out a podcast ("X") on their UK & French runners) have done very well with horses bought out of claimers, there was one horse last year claimed for €10k and won its next 4 of 5 races within 3 months for €110k prizemoney.
You also see horses from top stables like J-C Rouget that cost fortunes as foals and yearlings in Claiming Races, where they can be claimed for a fraction of their original cost and win races now their sights have been lowered. Their prizemoney makes a pittance of our UK lowly returns and there are bonuses for travel, breeders funds and sponsorships that can nearly double the returns.

If the chance presents itself, I urge you to go racing in France, Deauville & Dieppe are probably the nearest, where you will find a totally relaxed experience where you won't be ripped off for food and drink. I go to nearly every meeting at Cagnes-Sur Mer in the winter (NH & Flat), where it is usually around 70F with sunny skies, entrance to all enclosures is €5 and half price for over 60's. .... and the PMU can be rewarding once you get to know the set up.

Good informative post, kenny.  We could learn plenty from the French way of doing things in the sport.

Thought the top weight for the Aga Khan looked good imo

Nice win lto when they dropped her in and looks like they purposefully waited for this race.

Training well and bred to get the job done here.

Thanks guys.Cool

Bit gutted I had the reduced stake on the winner. Was just a bit worried about the trip on pedigree given she is a full sister to Noble Truth who was a 7f specialist for Godolphin.

Jockey Cam.. Soumillon on Gala Real finished 9th.. watch for Pasquier on Survie no. 3 alongside, he had to urge her along, then turning into the straight he gives her a back hander and she responds immediately..
