Thought this was QI:

Alan King Racing has quietly evolved into an equally-split dual-purpose yard.

Alan explains: “It was interesting to read Warren Greatrex’s quotes on going on a new route ‘like Alan King’ as it was more of an evolution rather than a plan. I’ve still got a huge hunger and ambition for the sport in both codes and without necessarily marketing ourselves as a Flat yard and, obviously, more thought of as Jumps focused, it gives the yard, the team, the owners and myself such a buzz for the whole year to have quality horses throughout both seasons. But, in essence, we want to be winning on the biggest stage…all year round.”

On the whole, over the years I'd say he's been a decent trainer when he has the ammunition in both codes.
Not many NH horse enthusiasts with bottomless pockets to go round.
I hope it goes well for him, his owners and staff.

Agreed, but for sure a concern for the jumping game generally IMO

...and Chris Giles is selling off his jumpers having late last year expressed his annoyance at the Affordability checks which he likened to a nanny state imposition.
He'd been asked for three years of tax returns and six months of bank statements.
Bookies [of which you are a part of] are partly to blame as he says "some bookmakers have been using the guidance to protect themselves.”

The guy must have spent millions on racehorses and liked to bet them as part of the experience.

Concerns aplenty methinks.

Assume Trueshan will not run tomorrow, right?

Good record in The Northumberland Plate Despite 3 winners in 5 days last week Alan King rues that lack of rain at the biggest stage last week again preventing Trueshan a chance to shine.
The Master of Barbury Castle explains: “We had winners at Uttoxeter, Stratford and Lingfield but to be denied a tilt at The Gold Cup obviously hurts and we did another rain dance for The Queen Alexandra but it was not to be. The form book just shows he needs cut in the ground but the good news is that in Britain we can be assured of drop or two over the coming weeks.”
“That’s racing, as they say, and we have runners through the week and then head up to Newcastle for The Northumberland Plate so we shouldn’t grumble.”

Jessica Harrington has transited into a mostly flat yard  and I think Noel Meade is going that way too ...possibly Gavin Cromwell as well. One can easily understand the reasons why this might seem like an advisable move.
No one thinking of moving in the opposite direction !

Yes its a shame. I can't remember a more dull boring and uninspiring time for jumps in my lifetime. No solutions from authorities so basically its being left to die the jumps while trainers and owners jump ship

FYI an update from Alan King about Spartan Army @ Newcastle Saturday:

Having decided to miss Royal Ascot, The Northumberland Plate is now Spartan Army’s main target for this season. He appears in good order and, crucially, has course and distance form. I love this race and am aiming to draw level with Paul Cole who has won the race three times to my twice.
