Say you travel well and are near the back - It seems to me like 10-15% chance you will get gaps vs going for outside where you have much better chance. Just observed Mark Winn - another absolutely useless jockey sticking for run on inside when you basically have tired horses blocking you.

I backed that and it was terrible to watch inside then outside and back to the inside.

In the interest of fairness...

How many times has a jockey stayed on the inside and won after getting a passage who could have chosen the outside route and got beat.

My complaint was not staying in one position but continually changing.

The answer is when you are on an outsider, and you actually need luck to win the race.

As I said on the recent Marquand thread on anything else it's about keeping the amount of luck to a minimum. Yes, sometimes the rider will get away with it, but should they be even trying to get away with it.

OP, only a brainless one esp with no cutaway ahead.

"My complaint was not staying in one position but continually changing". Could always ask Havelin (Mehdaayih).
