Thought Purple Lilly might run well.
The second run over a mile on heavy caught my eye. Think todays ground will bring improvement. G/L Foyles. ![]() |

I backed Azada last night. Didn't quite get the double figures. She was visually very impressive on debut. Keeping my fingers crossed they get some thunderstorms as she looked to relish the testing ground. I don't like Hayes, but it's a big day for trainer and jock with this one and Spoken Truth who has been very well backed. I like Spoken Truth, but hoping The Equator can make all at the bigger price. Good luck.

I think either a newcomer will win this or the English 1000G form line would prevail. I cannot have Opera Singer 1st time out.

Billy Lee normally rides Vespertilio,on Purple Lily today.
Wonder if he had the choice? |

I'm on A Lilac Rolla at 8/1 with the sportsbook. As the OP says it's a very trappy race.

Ryan moore's mount looks the one to be on until you see that the sire is Justify

Maybe Fallen Angel will improve for the gns run and get recoup some but rain means race is imponderable ..

I've gone for Everlasting e.w. at 33/1 4 places. Not far behind Purple Lily last time over 10f.

Justify has always put me off..trying to incorporate dirt tracks into bloodline can not understand tbh ..

What a rarity, a favourite wins.
Azada was in the perfect position to win, but folded completely. Preparation, or not good enough? Given the drift (on ground that should have suited), I favour the former explanation. |

Was that Steve Parkin's missus who was displaying her wares in the winners enclosure, looked a yorkshire tart

To be fair…the Japanese didn’t do too badly with Sunday Silence elevating their turf horses on the world stage….now you can trace most of them back to him on some side of the family.
|
|
By:
Just to add…that Sunday Silence apart there’s no evidence to suggest they’ve ever come close to be successful with another US dirt horse…far from it.
So you have War Emblem (probably the best ride from the front when he won the Derby) who they accused of being gay. Yes…they tried to get a refund from the Americas because they said he preferred male horses and had no interest in the girls. And then Ferdinand (the last horse to win a Derby from Stall1) who sadly ended up as dog meat…they couldn’t even let him live out his life. Wicked lot. |
|
By:
The Equator got shuffled back .. gamble landed ..but did have best form but 5 length gift was handy lol...
|
|
By:
Maybe War Emblem picked up a taste for it during the war eh ..lots of comradery and all that lol ... don t know why Ballydoyle trying to destroy their winning formula but hi ho.. City of Troy probably fall over line to win worst Derby in living memory ..

Just had a look back at The Equator's previous run. He wasn't away like lightning, but shaken up for a couple of strides he was quickly on the bridle. Today he has come out looking like a carthorse, and immediately had zero chance. Journeyman jock didn't exactly over exert himself to get the place.
