She lacks a bit of strength, but she can invariably get them to switch off and travel well on the bridle. Did well on a couple of JP's for Harry Fry, and at the time a bit surprised she didn't pick up a few more rides. You can well imagine she has a career waiting for her outside of the riding.

Has Mullins got a job at the Racing Post?

"Dial down" is an English idiom. It means "similar to 'dial back', it means to reduce or decrease in intensity or magnitude."

differentdrum -- yes, Patrick has a weekly column in the Racing Post. He writes very well (and apparently it is him not a ghostwriter like most jockey columns).
