the last race at York will bring back memories, Alf was the guy who bailed the Boro out when the liquidators put the padlocks on at Ayrsome park, he was also a massive gambler and a regular in the shop, i recall him him having a bet 500k/20k on his horse Tackroy in the national more than anything he was an absolute gentleman

i didnt really no him ronnie but i worked for him at ITM on the river and he,d walk through the yard now and again and the odd horse racing tip from him would floiat around the men and yard

the abiding memory of working at ITM coincidently 500yds down the rd from the new cellnet stadium, was it was during the time of the invention of  THE WALKMEN, dozen welders on nights sitting feet apart all with their new  WALKMEN,s on listening to latest tunes,everyone singing a different song,anyone walking in would have thought we were all mad LaughLaugh
