... just got back after 2 days. Battered financially. Could have got Frankel beat the way I punted but...........I enjoyed every minute of it. Moet £74. £105 at Jockey Club courses. Nearly every bloke in Members (and I think about 75% in Tatts) wearing suit and tie ( not that I insist on it but it shows a degree of respect I think). Everyone knows about horseracing and a pleasure to talk to. No shoeless eejits. Every staff member polite and pleasant. Free racecards. I go to loads of meetings down south and I realise I am being shafted. No choice of course but how lucky some of you are to be able to go this great course all of the time.

Thanks chap. It is a tribute to the place that I come away so happy. In addition to the stupendous losses on the two days, both decent ante post punts for Oaks and Derby were trounced . Having said that, absurdly, I was able to cash out on B635 for about 90% of stake. The Beckett filly in the Musidora and Ancient in the Dante. Seemed very generous to me. Anyway, all the best. I shall have to start again on both those races. Though I must say, notwithstanding what Haggas says, his Dante horse was very, very impressive and will win what ever it wants to next time out. Irish Derby? Thouggh I do think the owner will supplement for Epsom

Well said, Donegal. I was there yesterday and today and will be back on Friday. 3-day County Stand badge £96 (booked last December at old prices offer).
Agree with everything you say. As other tracks decline, York seems to get better and better. Everything is done so well there and I, too, love the collar and tie dress code for the County Stand - nothing wrong with people taking pride in their appearance, contrary to popular belief! Also, the view of the racing from the top of the Gimcrack stand (if you are prepared to climb the 4 flights of stairs) must be among the best in the world. Ever since I first went to York in 2007, after we moved North, I have watched every race I have bet in from that County Stand viewing area - I'd guess that 75% of the people up there are true racing fans, as well. That, too, makes a big difference because no screaming and shouting for horses that have plainly already run their race! Well done, York and well done you for the original post. (I did think Big Evs was superb today and was actually 11/10 or more on BF exchange last night! He looked so well this afternoon and has clearly trained on). |

The only winner I had TN! I was able swan around after a small mitigation of losses by saying " the last time I saw that win was in Santa Anita". What a plonker I must have sounded. A very very fast horse. But you are right. Even the website, as you click on, the first thing you see is the going report. The most crucial thing for punters. Most racecourse websites you cannot find the going, without 10 mins of fiddling about.

I agree with all the complimentary remarks of others. I went on Tuesday. When your only complaint is that the bar staff in the premier lounge haven't a clue at how to pull a pint it makes for a good day's racing.

saw the interview with the lady who won £32,000 on placepot on tues with fizty on itv yesterday,which is where mi usually place my self when at york with lads and interview was either at 10 in morning or it was empty and a few of bars/food outlets closed
