I can`t think of any great NH horses trained by Mick but perhaps I`m wrong?

Night Nurse dead heat against Monksfield at Aintree one of the all time great races. What a horse Night Nurse was.

M W Easterby had a Triumph Hurdle winner in Peterhof, a narrowly beat GN runner up Mr Snugfit, and also had Stearsby before he was sold to join Jenny Pitman, and Coulton before he was sold to join Sherwood.

Night Nurse was a legend TMB.
Had forgot about Peterhof VL. Think it was Terry Ramsden that bought Stearsby from MW Easterby. |
|
By:
He also bought Mr Snugfit too, sometime before the second time he ran in the GN. Not sure if staying in the yard was a condition of the sale as he almost always moved them to one of his own trainers - such as when he bought Chapel Cottage from the same yard off Robert Sangster and moved her to Mick Ryan.

Starfen was a decent hurdler for Peter, can't remember if any untoward happened to him though?
|

Thanks ribero. That doesn`t ring a bell. It was a long time ago.

Remember Starfen won the Champion Hurdle trial at Haydock as i was there i think ( so long ago ) but not sure after that.

Thanks Hayden. Do you remember a grey horse MH Easterby trained named Burns? Jonjo used to ride it on the Flat, especially at the Scottish tracks. At times like this one wishes that one hadn`t given away one`s old racing annuals, lol.

Burns would be 80s I think.

Not sure about Burns Mac , only grey beginning with letter B i remember from that time was the classic contender Bruni which culminated in a 10 length St Leger win , but as you'd know that was Ryan Price.

I remember Bruni alright Hayden. One of my all time favourites!
|
|
By:
Burns wasn`t a top horse but a profitable one.

Don't recall Burns trained by Peter at all Mac.

I might be getting mixed up Tommy. Jonjo definitely rode him. We were at Musselburgh and Burns passed my old mum who was leaning on the rails as they went on course and Jonjo winked at her and said "Bet this one, I`ll win"! And he did. Great days.

... biggest bet she ever had I think
Normally a pound was her bet but that day she upped to a fiver which was a lot back then. Jonjo was her all time favourite from then on. Great memories, which is all I have left. Top man is Jonjo. Made an old lady`s day with a kind and friendly gesture. |
