The one detail that gives me pause is they left Charlie Maggs, claiming 7lbs, on top. If it was a plot and they entrusted it to Maggs rather than bring in a job jockey, then good for them. The boy's been placed a lot but only five wins.

and the owner had two in the race - all set up beautifully, with hindsight .... this is the game - nice if you're in on it ;)

25s available last night. I always like to see small stables land a gamble.
Should have no trouble explaining the improvement, all except one previous run on soft/heavy. Obviously liked the better ground. Well done |

What a bizarre mindset:I've backed Giulietta on the basis of a fairly convincing form profile but would defend to the hilt some stroke player's right to shaft me.

7 times out of 8 running it on wrong ground

Yes but given the winter weather, it was often (not always but often) a choice of soft ground or staying at home.

You backed a horse that had been a beaten fav on it's last 4 runs, and you mention a "bizarre mindset". Thankfully we all have different views! Now beaten fav 5 on the bounce, will you back it next time given it's profile? |

I didn't bet in the race wiseacre but certainly Giulietta had a reasonable form chance in a fairly threadbare heat. The point of my post was to highlight the deferential attitude of some punters towards these coups,an activity not discouraged by complacent stewards not even bothering to ask a few questions.

There are rules but to challenge and ban a trainer the BHA need proof. Some trainers know exactly what they can get away with and it is the task of any punter to keep a list of those they suspect of being good at this kind of strategy.

He deserves a winner a good bloke as well, remember him at Nesbits married the daughter, doesn’t get many winners as doesn’t have the tackle but when they do …

Why risk another weight rise for a shorter price winner, then have to wait another 2 years to get the weight back down again,it doesn’t make sense, many trainers do the same regularly, it’s the way the games changed and it’s how they survive,
|
|
By:
Why do they even ask trainers for reasons of sudden improvement? They can pick any of the 30 available excuses and there's no way to verify any of it.

Why did a 150/1 shot win? First time cheekpieces did the trick, now buzz off stewards.
