Great actor. As well as all the mentioned roles he played so well he was terrific as the vicar/priest with the guilty secret in Unforgotten. R.I.P. What a loss.

Well RIP. Bernard Hill did a very soothing voiceover for a programme about the Mumbai railway.
He was also the main character in one of the best ever tv dramas: Ollys' Prison. Edward Bond wasn't that impressed with him but for all that it remains one of the most powerful dramas ever put out by the BBC. Get a copy from IMBD if you have a cd player but it was recorded in analogue.

Grew up in Liverpool was about 14 When Boys From The Blackstuff was on. Proper working class area. High unemployment and Redundancys by the day. Sunday night BBC either 9 or 10 Oclock. Depressing as Fck. Used to watch it go to Bed and have to get up and go to school on a Monday. Used to think what is the fckinn point of going if thats what lifes gonna be like. Wish Id never watched it due to the negative impact it had.
