Wasn't there a character in a pub called *Shake hands*

and from memory Yosser gave him one of the most artistic headbuts you will ever see.
By:
Cardinal Scott
When: 05 May 24 17:19
Actually the artistic headbut was dealt on someone else as I've found the *shake hands* clip and it isn't artistic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSAOUZ2BkZI (quality abysmal) farewell Bernard, that acting perfromance will still be talked about in 100 years.

Yes remember Shake Hands played by Iggy Navarro  Happy

Also a rather young David Neilson ( Roy Cropper ) played a couple of episodes.

Sunshine bbc, where he played a grandad,to Steve coogan a gambling addict bin man,was a good drama.
Think he was in Zulu or a similar film

Not sure about Zulu but know he was in Gandhi.

He also played the captain on the Titanic   Grin

Great actor.  As well as all the mentioned roles he played so well he was terrific as the vicar/priest with the guilty secret in Unforgotten.  R.I.P.  What a loss.

Well RIP. Bernard Hill did a very soothing voiceover for a programme about the Mumbai railway.

He was also the main character in one of the best ever tv dramas: Ollys' Prison. Edward Bond wasn't that impressed with him but for all that it remains one of the most powerful dramas ever put out by the BBC. Get a copy from IMBD if you have a cd player but it was recorded in analogue.

Grew up in Liverpool was about 14 When Boys From The Blackstuff was on.
Proper working class area.
High unemployment and Redundancys by the day.
Sunday night BBC either 9 or 10 Oclock.
Depressing as Fck.
Used to watch it go to Bed and have to get up and go to school on a Monday.
Used to think what is the fckinn point of going if thats what lifes gonna be like.
Wish Id never watched it due to the negative impact it had.

Bleasdale may have been a tart but Bernard is a screen legend.
That scene with Souness, I was scared it was going to kick off between the pair of them.

My memories of BH in the BFTBS are

Copper giving him a dressing down and Yosser saying but, but, but to each sentence prior to the inevitable

and meeting Graeme Souness in a night club telling him "you look like me, and Magnum, he's an American"

classic RIP Bernard

The nightclub!  Brilliant.  Sammy Lee was there as well as I recall.
Souness tried to look cool but could act as well as Bernard could play football!  Grin
